Jesus’s Life

weekly advantage Apr 05, 2023

As we begin this month, knowing what is going on around the world, let’s remind ourselves of this truth – Jesus is still King! He is in control and the message of his life, sacrifice, and resurrection have never been more timely or significant. In the coming weeks, we will explore how we can take comfort in the fact that Jesus is still KING!

If asked, most would agree Jesus was a great man, an exceptional teacher. But if asked why, many wouldn’t have an answer, although His earthly ministry speaks volumes. Jesus was born into the world much like everyone else, but His birth had been prophesied first in Genesis 3:14-15 and many times after in the Old Testament. Yet, most importantly His birth was  all part of God’s plan of redemption and restoration for fallen humanity.

As Jesus grew from boy to man, like all Hebrew boys, He would have studied the scriptures, had a bar mitzvah, and been an apprentice. He began his earthly ministry with baptism, symbolic of what was to come – His death, burial, and resurrection – and God proclaimed, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:13-17).

With His earthly ministry underway, he began to preach what we know as the Gospel – the Good News. Many were amazed at His teaching, while others were enraged. Even so, He never strayed from the Father’s plan to restore and redeem humanity. He preached freedom, He healed the sick, He raised the dead, He taught God’s truths(Luke 4:17-21). He never sinned. He claimed He was the long awaited Messiah (John 4:25-26).

He never wavered from the truth of who He is and today His Name is known around the world. May we, as we celebrate His Life, Death, and Resurrection, take comfort in knowing He is who He says – Messiah, Savior, and King.
