Look Through God's Perspective- Mental Health Awareness

weekly advantage May 03, 2023

Last week, we discovered our three parts – spirit, soul, and body – and learned that our mental health is the way our thoughts affect our feelings, which in turn affect our behaviors, and ultimately our lives. Most importantly, we found God can help us with our thoughts in our quest for better health. Let’s dig a little deeper into how our minds, will, and emotions (our souls) can be renewed toward overall wellness.

We know in John 10:10, Jesus promised those of us who follow him a “rich and satisfying life” and yet, many of us still seem to be struggling with mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and more. In Romans 12:2, we read, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Just how are we to be “transformed by the renewing of your mind?”

It all begins by looking at the world with guidance from God’s Word and from God’s point of view instead of seeing the world through our own eyes. It requires a change of perspective – rather than seeing the troubles, challenges, and obstacles, we need to look at everything from His perspective and see the possibilities before us. It is a decision – harnessing the power of the Mind of Christ within us instead of our own.

When we renew our minds, we can lead our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit within and align ourselves with God’s Word so we can avoid the struggles and turmoil of this world. This week, as we continue our journey toward overall health, may “we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5) changing the way we think and aligning our thoughts with Christ.
